So this is about our individual experiences with new yorkcity. We have this image of big explosions, and then fragments that create new aleatory and nonsense connections, that keep changing every second. Times Square is a good metaphor for all that is going on here: colorful lights moving, everybody in a rush, machines working nonstop, numbers changing every second, people being carried by this big wave of information, not being able to digest life, in a crazy rhythm. And this excess of experiences and stimulation can create this explosions, this volcan eruption. Is this movement that takes everything out of place, out of order, out of control: there is no more morals, labels, names, nothing. Is chaos.
But there is hope. In this point where is all exploding there is a lot of freedom. Is the death of all that came before so that something unknown can be born. So is death and fragmentation but is also the possibility of a new beginning, of reconfiguration, reorganization of the self. The choice of new principles, new directions.
So to create this explosions the idea is to be "too much" you know? To make people feel uncomfortably overstimulated. So there will be my dance, Natacha's videos (she'll play and improvise with at least 3 projectors in the space), Reginald's drawings, christmas red lights flashing and Sessa's music.
The connections will happen in the moment, trough our own connections during the act of perform: now we have some material that we are creating and exploring, experimenting with, creating "memory", creating background. And then at the day we improvise with this connecting with each other.
Time is not important here. To run away from the idea of beginning and end we decided to do not one performance but some of them, in the middle of the party - I'm thinking in 3. What matters is the cycles: so many connections that all explodes, and then starts to connect again, and then explodes again, reconnect, etc. So we are talking more about the cycles then anything else - in the "schedule" of the performance, the big thing, but also in every small thing: every movement, image, etc. somehow contains the explosions and the connections, and their movement forever changing places in the universe. Also because if the cycle of deaths and births goes on forever there is also a sense in some place that nothing is really going on, this cycle is infinite but something deeper and essential stays trough this movement. If we think of a circle moving forever, the center is always still.
